Description: | The enzyme system for cleavage of glycine (glycine cleavage system) is composed of four mitochondrial protein components: P protein, H protein, T protein, and L protein. GCSH is the H protein, which transfers the methylamine group of glycine from the P protein to the T protein. Defects in this gene are a cause of nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH). Recombinant human GCSH protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. |
