Overexpression ofthe active form of this enzyme induces apoptosis in fibroblasts.Max, a central component of the Myc/Max/Mad transcriptionregulation network important for cell growth, differentiation, andapoptosis, is cleaved by this protein; this process requiresFas-mediated dephosphorylation of Max.
